Yoga

Kundalini
Kundalini yoga is the most mystical variety of yoga, which combines all the techniques for influencing the mind and body: physical exercises, breathing, meditation, mantras, mudras (hand movements). They aim at stimulating and harmonising the inner chakras, or energy centres in the body. Their development through the practice of kundalini yoga leads to the recovery of physical, mental and emotional balance, the release of stress and the ascent to a higher level of consciousness.

Kundalini Yoga

...how to start
You do not need to be athletic or stretched to start practising kundalini yoga. This variety of yoga is for everyone without exception - from children to the elderly. Everyone can take part, no matter what stage of life they are in, how old they are, where they come from or what their religion is. All that counts is a sincere desire and a real commitment. As most of the poses are done with your eyes closed, you should not be afraid of making a mistake or not being able to do something.

What do they look like?

...classes
A typical kundalini yoga lesson lasts approximately 90 minutes. It begins with an initial mantra, followed by a warm-up to prepare the body for exercise. Then comes the actual part of the class, i.e. kriya, during which participants perform a specific set of asanas. Everything is accompanied by mantras. This part is followed by rest and relaxation, for example in the Savasana position (lying on your back). The last stage is meditation with elements of mantra, mudra and pranayama. The whole thing is concluded with a final mantra.
